Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher
- Length2 Days
The two-day (16-hour) advanced firefighting refresher and revalidation course, also called an AFF Refresher course, is intended to provide refresher training for personnel who will command firefighting efforts on board the vessel. The course is designed to fulfill the training requirements of the 2010 Amendments to the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Code, as outlined in CG-CVC Policy Letter No. 12-07.
What You Will Learn
A successful trainee will demonstrate knowledge and skill in command and control procedures related to the management of shipboard firefighting through the following:
- Pre-fire planning
- Crew training
Due to the above goals, our AFF refresher course focuses on exercises that expand your skill set and confidence in these areas.
What You Should Bring
Attendees at the MITAGS campus should bring work clothes as the STCW advanced firefighting refresher class will attempt to visit a ship in the port of Baltimore for practical exercises.
