Overview:

MITAGS’ West Coast Campus in Seattle, Washington is pleased to announce a new offering of our Maritime Apprenticeship Program in partnership with Washington State Ferries.

We are looking for passionate, motivated individuals who have interest in working and training aboard the Washington State Ferry system. Benefits of this program include:

  • NO cost to accepted applicants for the 2 year program.
  • The scholarship is worth over $61,000 in tuition including paid training days onboard Washington State Ferries.
  • Successfully complete the MITAGS’ program, apply for employment at Washington State Ferries, and follow the Washington State Ferries career pathway to the pilothouse as a licensed deck officer.
  • Competitive wages: Washington State Ferries licensed deck officers starting pay range $96,408 to $ 103,292.

Requirements/Application Process:

Requirements for full admission to all of MAP’s Mate Training Programs are:

  • Minimum age of 18.5
  • Proof of high school diploma, GED or HiSET
  • Basic Math Entrance Exam (completed online, following your initial program interview)
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship (US Coast Guard requirement for licensed credentials)
  • Eligibility to obtain TWIC, Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), and USCG Medical Certificate (WSF will assist selected applicants with this process)

MITAGS will forward your responses to the Washington State Ferries for their review and consideration once all application requirements have been met (this will include an intake interview with MITAGS and completion of a prerequisite math exam).
