Course Description

The Qualified Assessor / Conducting Mariner Assessment is an online course. This short, but effective computer-based training course prepares mates and masters for conducting onboard assessments.  Dr. Alice Barnes, Co-Author of Conducting Mariner Assessments written for the USCG, co-developed the course that this program is based on.  This course utilizes role-playing scenarios to reinforce the strategies for conducting assessments and answers any questions on assessment requirements or techniques.

This on-line training program meets the requirements of Coast Guard Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular (NVIC) 19-14 (Ch 3), Policy on Qualified Assessors for persons who will assess the competency of candidates for STCW endorsements.  In addition, this course also meets the 'training' requirements for Designated Examiner aboard towing vessels.

The online portal will present you with a completion document, that will need to submitted to Admissions, then, we will issue your USCG approved certificate to submit to the National Maritime Center.
