Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Prevention

  • Length1 Days

Course Description

Sexual assault and sexual harassment, often abbreviated as SASH, are forms of discrimination based upon a person’s gender. Preventing sexual assaults and sexual harassment is a concern for all organizations and industries, not just the maritime industry. SASH has an overall negative impact on individuals and organizations, and can impact safety, productivity, morale, and teamwork, among other things. Therefore, the maritime industry has zero tolerance for sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other prohibited behaviors such as bullying, hazing, and coercion.

The maritime industry strives for a workplace environment of fairness, dignity, respect and one where sexual assaults and sexual harassment will not be tolerated.

This course aims to reinforce the expectations for a respectful shipboard and shore leave culture and climate, and, to teach you how to prevent and respond to sexual assaults, sexual harassment, and other prohibited behaviors in the maritime industry.

When offered at the East Coast Campus, this class usually starts at 1600 and finishes at 2030 with a dinner break offered.  Please confirm with admissions the starting time when enrolling.
