MITAGS is seeking a Maintenance Support Technician/Shuttle Driver for its West Coast campus!



Responsible for maintenance and readiness of equipment for the MITAGS West Marine firefighting programs. Drives passenger van for students and faculty.


Reports to the Assistant Program Manager or Designate


  1. Responsible for the maintenance and readiness of all:
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including:
      • Firefighting Coveralls
      • Helmets
      • Flash Hoods
      • Gloves
      • Boots
      • SCBAs
    • Portable fire extinguishers;
    • Fire hoses and fittings;
    • Portable firefighting and damage control equipment;
  2. Responsible for keeping of all records regarding acquisition, disposition, and maintenance of the equipment referenced above.
  3. Manage gauge calibration program
  4. Drive 24-passenger shuttle bus to transport students as required
  5. Responsible for cleanliness and readiness of shuttle bus
  6. Make recommendations for maintenance and repair of shuttle bus
  7. Assist Facilities Maintenance Manager as directed



  1. Four or more years of service in U.S. Military or a major fire department
  2. Capable of passing US Navy Physical and Psychological testing requirements
  3. Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  4. Current Washington State Commercial Driver’s License rated for Passenger Busses


Physical Demands

  • The employee frequently is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The position requires working outside most of the day. Duties may require occasional travel to off site locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the fire trainer is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles.


Starting Salary – $45,000 with full benefits
